ABOUT
PSi is a professional association founded in 1997 to promote communication and exchange between scholars and practitioners working in the field of performance. The organisation has staged numerous international conference and festival gatherings that have moved between the discourse and practice of performance. PSi conferences have been held across the U.S.A. and the U.K. and in Germany, New Zealand and Singapore. For details of previous events see our history pages and its archive links.
The fourteenth PSi conference, Interregnum: In Between States, took place in Copenhagen, Denmark August 20th-24th 2008, and was hosted by the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, University of Copenhagen.
The fifteenth PSi conference, Misperformance: Misfiring, Misfitting, Misreading, will take place in Zagreb, Croatia 24 – 28 June 2009, and is being hosted by Faculty of Philosophy and Academy of Drama Arts (Dramaturgy Department) of the University of Zagreb, Teatar &TD and Student Centre of the University of Zagreb, Institute for Ethnology and Folklore Studies and Zagreb Youth Theatre.
Benefits of PSi membership include receipt of the PSi email digest, discount subscriptions to key journals in the field and optional participation in the PSi-Extra email discussion list. We encourage members to contribute to our ongoing research working groups and to participate in the structures of the organisation through our subcommittees.
PSi is always interested in developing proposals for new events and regional initiatives that will help to develop the international nature of the performance studies field. If you have a strong network of collaborators, good facilities and a proposal for an event we would be happy to hear from you.
