The FESTIVAL will consist of indoor and site-specific performances, artist talks, panels and discussions.
This Open Call for Performances invites International and Canadian performance artists to submit works for consideration for the Zero Gravity International Performance Art FESTIVAL portion of the SUMMIT.
THEME: We live in dangerous and precarious times. How can art rise above the current times we live in to think in new ways; not only as a means of escape, but as a call to action? What do performance artists have to say about the ‘gravity’ of the world?
PERFORMANCE DURATION: up to 30 minutes. Longer durational performances (up to 2 hours) will be considered, but may not be able to be accommodated due to limitations of space.
EQUITY, DIVERSITY and INCLUSION: We particularly welcome proposals from artists who identify as being Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or Métis), ethnically-diverse, deaf, disabled or LGBTQ2S+.
FESTIVAL COMMITMENT: As one of the primary objectives of the SUMMIT is to create a dialogue amongst International, Canadian and Local performance artists, Festival Artists who reside outside of Edmonton will receive support to participate in all 4 days of the Zero Gravity International Performance Art FESTIVAL (May 16 – 19, 2019).
