We are thrilled to announce that the 2024 Dwight Conquergood Award has been awarded to Alison Mahoney! This prestigious award, sponsored by Arizona State University, honors the memory of Dwight Conquergood, a memorable ethnographer celebrated for his groundbreaking research on disenfranchised communities. The award supports individuals whose work in cultural performance resonates with Conquergood’s ethos and assists with travel to the annual PSi conference.

Alison Mahoney is a scholar focused on disability performance and culture. Her award-winning work titled “Collective Affinities in Twentieth-Century Midget Cities,” investigates the collective political actions of performers in early twentieth-century “midget cities.” Through the examination of these performances, Alison challenges traditional ideas of agency, advocating for a view of agency as a collective and relational quality rather than an individual one.

Congratulations to Alison on this well-deserved recognition!
